2nd Annual Build with Britni night

Britni Richards works for Chrysalis in Las Vegas and is also a LEGO nerd like Tanner. Last year we sponsored her 1st Build with Britni Night by sending a big box of LEGO kits to help her with her project and it was a big success!

We wanted to help again this year and were able to send another big box of LEGO kits. Good thing we did cuz her event this year doubled!

I want to share an email and picture from Britni showing just how amazing these little bricks truly are!

I had Lego Night last night and it was perfect! We had a huge turn out. Here are a few pictures for ya.

I sent this message to everyone who showed and I truly feel it captures the magic of the night and the people we support......

Thank you to all the homes that came out to Lego Night with me! I had a wonderful time sharing something that I like to do.

Aside from building Legos being a hobby of mine, I had a wonderful time watching you guys work with our people. The room was so quiet as you supported our individuals in the activity.

It was fun to watch how you handled supporting our people with something difficult. Building legos isn't intuitive for everyone and can be frustrating. It requires fine motor skills, the ability to follow instructions, patience, and focus. For us, there was an added element of communication to build something as a team.

You guys did not disappoint.

I watched you:

-help your individuals sort legos into colors

-help them identify parts in the instructions

  -help them snap parts together

-communicate with them on what to do in the instructions

-find a way to include those that couldn't do it alone by having them help you

-straight just build legos for people that didnt have the skillset to do it, but wanted to participate

-be patient with them when it got hard and frustrating, and

-support those that didn't want to build the kit and just use their imagination in free building.

It is times like these that I know our individuals are in good hands. It means so much to me to see the work that we do first hand...To know that we are making a difference... And to see you do what you love with people that we love.

Thank you for showing up tonight and caring. Thank you for making this memory with me.

Thank you for supporting the mission and magic Karen!

This truly warms my heart and I know Tanner is working his magic from the other side once again!
